The statue was created in the last phase of the history of Archaic period kouroi. Certain traits already foreshadow the Classical period representation of the male nude. The arms, for instance, are separate from the torso, they are not held close to the body as in figures of the Archaic period. Another innovation is constituted by the slightly bent knees, the legs are not completely straight. The weight, however, is still equally balanced between the two halves of the body, as was customary with Archaic period sculptures. This is one of the latest kouros figures.
