The girl wears a long, thin dress, a thicker mantle, and a fine scarf tucked inside her belt. Her right hand gathers her clothes in an elegant gesture, her left hand must have held something, perhaps the key to the sanctuary, since the statue was found at the sacred way beside the sanctuary of Hera at Samos. According to the inscription along the edge of the scarf the kore was offered to Hera by Cheramyes, who must have been a wealthy man: archaeologists have found three other statues at the sanctuary that he had given to the goddess.
