The two original marble reliefs decorated the walls of a passage leading to a temple at the agora of Thasos. The niche at the centre of the larger relief is approached by gods from opposite directions. Apollon stands on the left, holding a string instrument (kithara) and crowned by a woman behind him. Three nymphs are lined up on the right, two hold ribbons, the last one holds a flower. The inscription on the cornice of the niche sets the rules of the cult of Apollon and the nymphs. The smaller relief shows the three Charites, the Beautiful goddesses. The plaster cast of the other side of this relief is lost.
