The stele, which is shaped like a small sanctuary, shows two standing females. The deceased is identified by the inscription above her as the figure on the right: she is Mynnion, the daughter of Chairestratos, from Hagnus near Athens. The young woman wears an ankle-length dress tied under her breast and a mantle; her long hair is in a braided ponytail. She holds onto the edge of her mantle with her lowered left hand. These traits are characteristic of unwed girls (parthenoi). She is embraced by the elder woman beside her — probably her grieving mother — who strokes the girl’s chin with her right hand.
