Please respect the rules below during your visit at the Museum.
Please keep a distance of at least 30 cm from the artworks on display.
CLOAKROOM: The use of the cloakroom is free of charge and obligatory. Please leave any packages, backpacks, umbrellas, and bags exceeding 30x40x20 cm. Because of security reasons, bags of any size are not allowed to be carried on the back in the exhibitions, small backpacks can be hold in hand or worn in front only. Visitors may not enter the exhibition halls with a coat in hand or across the arms, or wearing a wet coat or a winter coat. It is forbidden to bring bottles, food, drink, pets (except guide dogs), toys, and sharp or pointed objects in the exhibitions. (Strictly for health reasons, visitors may carry in their bag one bottle of soft drink/water of a maximum size of 0.5 liter.) Pets, bicycles and scooters cannot be left in the cloakroom. For depositing small coats, bags, and valuables, lockers are available, operating with 100 HUF coin that is returned upon leaving.
Visitors can deposit two packages not exceeding 40x50x80 cm. For the valuables that you would like to keep at yourself, a “take and return” bag is available when using the cloakroom. – Temporarily not valid.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO: Taking photographs and recording videos, exclusively for personal use, is permitted only in the halls of the permanent exhibitions (if not indicated otherwise). Taking photos is allowed with any admission ticket. Video recording is allowed only with a purchased video ticket. Flash photography, monopods and tripods are not permitted. Taking photos or video in the temporary exhibitions is not permitted by any device.
GUIDED TOUR: Only the trained guides of the Museum are allowed to guide tours in our exhibition halls. Please check the prices and book in advance.
CELL PHONES: Please mute your cell phone and avoid calls while visiting the exhibitions.
VISITING WITH CHILDREN: Our institution happily welcomes young visitors, meanwhile for safety and security reasons, the following rules shall be followed: Children below the age of 2 can only be taken in the exhibitions in strollers or in front-facing baby carriers. Strollers are only allowed if they are in use and not folded. Carrying babies in any other ways is not allowed.
Strollers can be borrowed for free for children under 15 kg. – Temporarily not valid.
SMOKING: Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is prohibited on the premises of the Museum Smoking is possible only in the designated areas located outside the fence of the main entrance.
ACCESSIBILITY: Disabled visitors can access the main entrance with the elevator located at the side of the main stairway. An operator can be called with the help of a signal button. Inside the building there are two elevators between levels -1 – 0 and 0–3, respectively. The exhibition located on level 2 can be accessed from level 3 through a stairway that is equipped with a wheelchair lift. For operating the wheelchair lift, please inquire assistance of our personnel in the nearest exhibition hall.
CLOSING TIME: Closing of the exhibitions begins at 5.30 pm at level 3, heading towards the main entrance. Visitors are kindly asked to leave the exhibition halls at the arrival of the closing crew, to collect all the items from the cloakroom until 5.50 pm, and to leave the building by 6 pm.
VISITING IN A GROUP OR FAMILY: The group leaders, accompanying teachers and parents (or freelancer guides with a special permit) are responsible to ensure that all group members or children comply with the rules.
Should you disagree with the above rules, with the receipt of your unused ticket you may ask for the return of the entrance fee, before entering the exhibitions’ area.
