The plaster cast of the tomb of Elek I Thurzó (d. 1543) located in the Basilica Saint James in Levoča (Slovakia) was made by Viktor Molnár for the Hungarian National Museum in 1880. The copy is part of the group of casts which were ordered at the initiative of Flóris Rómer, and included other copies of monuments from Hungary. Elek Thurzó was a high rank officer of the royal court. His tomb was carved in marble, the relief on the upper part portrays him praying before the cross, with his wife, Magdalene Székely of Ormosd, and their three daughters, Veronica, Anne, and Elisabeth, on his right. Below the relief, an inscription commemorates the deceased. Unfortunately, only the part of the tomb that bears the inscription has been preserved.
