The exhibition catalogue Amenhotep II and His Time. The Discovery of the Pharaoh’s Tomb offers a complete picture of the age of Amenhotep II, who ruled in the second half of the Eighteenth Dynasty (1425–1400 BC), and the discovery of his tomb through four chapters. The first one is dedicated to the person and the reign of the pharaoh, and also presents the foreign policy during the second half of the Eighteenth Dynasty, as well as the royal architecture and statuary of the period. In the second chapter, the reader gains insight into the everyday lives of the high-ranking officials during the era of Amenhotep II. The third part discusses the contemporary afterlife beliefs and the funerary customs of the elite. In the fourth chapter, we can read about the extraordinary discovery of the tomb of Amenhotep II and the burial equipment found inside it. The essays and the entries of the catalogue were written by internationally recognised Egyptologists and professionals. The catalogue was published specifically for the Budapest exhibition with the same title.
