Special announcement – museum closure

Dear Visitors,

Due to the public health emergency caused by Covid-19, the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest and all its member institutions, i.e., the Hungarian National Gallery, the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts and the Vasarely Museum, will be closed for an indefinite period of time from 17 March 2020.

Our temporary exhibition (Amenhotep II and His Age) and our programs (Museum+ events) scheduled for this spring will be postponed and held at a later date.

The departments of all the museums wish to share their digital content with the public even during the emergency closure. The Hungarian National Gallery’s exhibition titled Variations on Realism – From Munkácsy to Mednyánszky can be visited virtually from Monday on the institution’s website (www.mng.hu), where the page Masterpieces in Education is also available. This page presenting prominent pieces from the collection can be used in school curricula: in teaching history, Hungarian grammar and literature as well as visual culture. The collection of the Museum of Fine Arts can also be viewed online by visiting the page recommended mini-tours.

We will provide information about the use of pre-purchased tickets for our events after agreeing plans with our maintaining institution. Please check our homepage for updates.

Thank you for your understanding.
