Museum+ APRIL

The 2019 Museum+ evenings organised around the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Fine Arts can be visited free of charge thanks to the generous support of OTP Bank and MVM Hungarian Electricity Plc.

Our successful Museum+ series continues in 2019 with nine evenings of extended opening hours. The more than ten-year-old programme series awaits visitors with the usual events, introducing brand new themes every month. Guided tours, workshops, guest stars, concerts, dance and literary performances, fine food and special wine selections will help you to explore and become better acquainted with the museum’s collections.

As an important change from previous years, admission to the Museum+ evenings in 2019 is free, following the example of British museum evenings.

Participation in this month’s events is not dependent upon registration but is limited by the capacity of the premises. Admission to the building begins at 5.30 pm.

At our April Museum+ evening visitors will have the opportunity to view the permanent exhibitions and also our new temporary show titled Triumph of the Body, Michelangelo and Sixteenth-Century Draughtsmanship, for which a separate ticket should be purchased. For visitors with tickets to theMichelangelo exhibition (online purchase) valid for a specific time slot, admission into the building is guaranteed, without having to join the queue, along with free entry to all the Museum+ events. During the evening, you can also buy tickets for the Michelangelo exhibition in our ticket offices.

DEBUT OF THE ITALIAN BEER PERONI

Thanks to our sponsors, visitors to the April event of the Museum+ series who purchase tickets for the Michelangelo exhibition will be our guests for a bottle of refreshing Peroni of pure gold colour and citrus undertones, an excellent accompaniment to the Art bistro’s tapas variations.

LOUNGE BAR –  KLÁRA BÁBEL harpist

Artisjus Award laureate Klára Bábel is one of the most outstanding harpists of her generation. She pursued her music studies in Hungary and abroad. She is an active participant in the domestic and international music scene as a soloist and as a member of orchestras, while she also takes part in concerts, master courses, and harp competitions. She completed the doctoral school of the Liszt Academy and attended the harp programme of the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels. Her repertoire comprises almost 100 pieces, including works by contemporary Hungarian composers.

GUIDED TOUR IN ENGLISH

WORKSHOP – Creative Corner: POCKET PICTURES

You can make miniature colour panel pictures with oil pastel chalk based on some details from the museum’s paintings. The workshop is be led by Fruzsina Kun.

PHOTO CORNER – Put on some (almost) authentic accessories and be someone else while your picture is being taken in the museum’s renovated Romanesque Hall.

ANCIENT TIMES REVIVED in the Collection of Classical Antiquities

Actors donning costumes and playing roles from the ancient world tell stories about the artworks in the collections and through them about their lives and times.

Classical and contemporary reflections – music, dance, theatre, poetry, and improvisation in the collections

Strange things happen in galleries at night. Have you ever felt that an enticing melody, a poem, or a movement would be a perfect match for a work of art as it would convey the sensation and the magic you experience when looking at it? This evening interesting melodies, well-known poems, and movements will accompany the artworks in the museum’s galleries, infusing them with new colour and life.
