The sculpture representing Saint John the Baptist of the Museum in Berlin (then Kaiser-Friedrich Museum, now Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) had been for long attributed to Michelangelo, even if with serious doubts. Unfortunately the original artwork was destroyed during the Second World War. Even though the plaster cast had been purchased directly from Berlin and preserves precisely the form of the lost sculpture, unfortunately the arms and the head of the plaster cast have been lost. The plaster cast was transferred from the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest to the Kalocsa Community Centre in 1977 as a deposit and remained there until 2017. The copy now is preserved in the museum’s storage.
