Fragments of a marble crater, commonly referred to as the Warwick Vase after one of its owners, were found in the eighteenth century. Both sides are decorated with four heads in profile, among which the masks of Bacchus, Silenus, and perhaps Ariadne can be identified. The find caused quite a sensation, resulting in a number of modern adaptations. Some are exact copies, others rework the original freely, including the model of this plaster cast, which shows the masks in frontal view and with significant alterations.
