The statue, which is only one meter tall, depicts a female figure standing with feet together. Her right hand, now missing, once held the edge of her dress, her left hand, extended to the front, must have held a votive gift, a fruit for example. She wears a long dress (chiton), a richly draped mantle fastened at the left shoulder, and sandals. Her face is adorned with a high diadem and round earrings. The hem of the dress and the diadem were once decorated with geometric patterns painted in vivid colours, traces of which are still visible on the Athenian statue.
