The plaster cast is a copy of one of the canopies from the cathedral in Strasbourg, which are placed above the sculptures on the west portal of the church. The artwork was transferred from the Museum of Fine Arts to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (then Royal Joseph University) in 1923 as a deposit.
